Tree-Climbing Lions & Underground Streams
Nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, Lake Manyara National Park is a lush paradise of diverse habitats. Our specialized day trip utilizes off-road access to the park's less-visited southern sector, where underground water forests transition into acacia woodlands. This park is world-famous for its tree-climbing lions and massive troops of baboons. From the pink-hued shores of the soda lake to the hot springs of Maji Moto, every mile offers a new ecological surprise.

Day Trip Itinerary
Morning: Forest Exploration
Under the Canopy
Early departure from Arusha or Karatu. Enter the park through the northern gate and immediately dive into the tall ground-water forest. Watch for Blue monkeys, Hornbills, and the legendary baboon troops. This cool, shaded environment is a unique start to any Tanzanian safari.
Midday: The Southern Off-Road Access
Acacia Woodlands & Soda Shores
Push south past the mainstream loops. Here, the forest thins into woodlands—the prime spot to scan ancient Mahogany trees for resting lions. We enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch overlooking the lake, where thousands of flamingos create a shimmering pink border on the horizon.
Afternoon: Maji Moto & Return
Hot Springs & Hippo Pools
Visit the Maji Moto hot springs at the park's edge, where geothermal activity bubbles to the surface. Observe hippos cooling off in the marshes before we begin our slow game drive back to the gate, catching the golden hour light reflecting off the Rift Valley wall.
